You’re Not Alone
We’ll help you find the best drug rehab solution. Quickly find rehab, a treatment center and community support.
In November, the New York Times reported on statistics from the Center for Disease Control that there were over 17% more fatalities from overdose in 2016 than in 2015. In recognition of this, we at Addiction Center wanted to take this opportunity to focus on being supportive by reaching out to as many people as possible.
Heroin is one of the most dangerous, and most addictive, substances known to man. It’s also a relatively inexpensive drug, but those who become addicted can spend hundreds of dollars a day on the habit.

The Addiction Policy Forum is launching the Addiction Resource Center (ARC) portal. The ARC portal is an online platform designed to assist people concerned about their own substance use or a loved one’s substance use. People can go through a self-assessment, develop an action plan, and discover local resources to address substance use disorder (SUD).
Local treatment resources in Maryland, Minnesota, New Hampshire and Ohio are included in the first version of the portal. Over the coming year, resource lists will be developed in all 50 states. As part of the ARC portal launch, the Addiction Policy Forum is hosting walkthrough events in these four states for community leaders, impacted families and stakeholders. Please join us!
Addiction and sleep share a problematic bidirectional relationship, where each influences the other. Many people treat sleep problems with drugs and alcohol, which can lead to addiction. People who are already addicted to drugs and alcohol undergo changes in their sleep architecture and sleep needs, forcing them to increasingly rely on their addiction in order to sleep. Once in recovery, one of the main reasons many people relapse is the discomfort and insomnia they experience, compounded by the long period of time it takes for the body to adjust back to normal sleep without drugs and alcohol.
In this guide we’ll explore the common sleep disorders associated with addiction, the cyclical relationship between addiction and sleep, and suggested resources and strategies for managing sleep during recovery.

Royalty costs for COMPLETE AND TOTAL are $75 per performance (negotiable). The playwright’s number one priority is to address the heroin epidemic facing our communities. If royalty costs limit or prohibit your ability to produce the play, please contact the playwright directly and he will work with you and your production team so you can do so. All questions, script requests, or inquiries to produce the play can be sent to [email protected]. He can also be found on Facebook or on twitter @gregvovos.
SYNOPSIS of COMPLETE AND TOTAL:
Eric is a young man with a great future ahead of him, including a chance to attend Harvard; however, his drug addiction is escalating and heroin is becoming the number one priority in his life. The only people who are truly there to help him are his younger sister Madison and The Mind, the sober part of his brain that still believes Eric’s future has value. But it remains to be seen if Madison and The Mind are up to the task of helping Eric defeat the powerful narcotic. This award-winning play was written specifically to be performed by high school actors for their peers to raise awareness and
promote discussion.
My name is Rev. Beverly Wrobel from Mentor United Methodist Church ([email protected]) and I had the privilege of working with Greg Vovos to offer this play to high school students in our community on several occasions. I highly recommend it. It is extremely well written with a message that is very impactful. It can be helpful to have a panel discussion after the play.
About Drug Free Action Alliance
www.drugfreeactionalliance.org
Drug Free Action Alliance is a statewide, 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization founded in 1987. We deliver up-to-date information and develop initiatives that serve the immediate needs of those working to prevent substance abuse throughout the State of Ohio and beyond.
While young people are our primary target population, we also engage in efforts to promote healthy lifestyles for all Ohioans. We form partnerships with businesses, community members, substance abuse prevention professionals, policy makers, law enforcement, school personnel, and, most importantly, parents.
Our Mission
Leading the way in promoting healthy lives through the prevention of substance abuse and related problems.
Our Strategy
- Provide statewide and community environmental changes to reduce substance abuse.
- Increase public awareness of substance abuse and its harmful effects and the role of Drug-Free Action Alliance in substance abuse prevention.
- Help to develop the statewide prevention infrastructure to reduce substance abuse through collaborations, community coalitions and state level groups.
We provide information, resources, and treatment for people battling addiction and related conditions.
At DrugRehab.com, our mission is to equip patients and families with the best information, resources and tools to overcome addiction and pursue lifelong recovery. We are here to help you or your loved one every step of the way.

Understand Addiction and Its Causes
You must understand alcohol or drug addiction and their causes before you can overcome them. The factors that lead to substance abuse and addiction are different for each person. We explain how drugs affect your body, the reasons people turn to them and how to recover from alcoholism and other substance use disorders.
Treating the Underlying Causes of Addiction
People turn to substances of abuse for quick highs, to relieve stress or to cope with other health conditions. But alcohol and other drugs exacerbate symptoms of co-occurring mental health disorders. We teach healthy ways to cope with unpleasant emotions, and we treat all of the underlying causes of addiction.
Find Your Path to Recovery
Rehab for alcohol and drug abuse requires a personal approach. It should be tailored to your needs. We work with you to create a personalized treatment plan that includes individual therapy, counseling, group therapy and medication-assisted treatment options.
Supporting Long-Term Recovery
Recovery is a lifelong journey. It’s easier when you’re surrounded by support. Drug rehab prepares you for a life in recovery by guiding your transition after treatment and introducing you to support groups. Whether you’re in recovery or you’re supporting a loved one, support options are available for you.
Collegiate Recovery Communities
Recovery continues after you complete inpatient or outpatient treatment, but college campuses often put recovering students at risk. We support the recovery movement on college campuses by aiding the development of Collegiate Recovery Communities.
Resources
Addiction is a complex, complicated disease. Our resources help you recognize how addiction impacts your life. We report the latest news and provide comprehensive guides covering a variety of relevant topics.

We have heard too many tragic stories about families who have lost a loved one, with their entire life ahead of them, due to what started as prescription drug abuse. The most recent data available shows unintentional drug overdose has continued to be the leading cause of injury-related death in Ohio, ahead of motor vehicle traffic crashes.
In response to this growing epidemic, Governor John Kasich created the Governor’s Cabinet Opiate Action Team to attack opiate abuse on every front. The Action Team is comprised of several state agencies that work together to combat opiate abuse by making a difference in each of their respective areas of influence.
Since the creation of program, the state has made it more difficult to traffic drugs, decreased the number of opioids prescribed, informed Ohioans on how to talk to their children about drugs, and expanded treatment for those who fall victim to opioid abuse. While the state has made progress in the fight against opiate abuse, there is still more to be done to ensure every Ohioan has the opportunity to fulfill their potential. Please explore this website to learn more about Ohio’s efforts to combat opiate abuse.
Hope Over Heroin is a collaborative faith-based ministry believing in and witnessing the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to change lives. Ohio’s employers are asking what they should do about the opioid problem in their own workplaces. The Ohio Chamber of Commerce convened a task force to explore the options. One recommendation coming out of the task force was for employers to be armed with a toolkit of resources to be better prepared to prevent and respond to the problem. With the help and expertise of a member company, Working Partners®, and financial support from member company, Anthem, we have developed the Opioid Toolkit containing several resources free of charge to any company that is doing business in Ohio.
Active Addiction Recovery Through Outdoor Adventure Activities and Skills
Planned Purpose was created to bridge the gap addicts face after completing an IOP or a 30 day treatment. Planned Purpose is meant to create meaningful activities and adventures allowing people to get out of the routine found in their normal environment and into a new behavior as introduced through nature, the outdoors and activities involving the natural world. In doing so, bonds are formed and feel connected to something rather than returning to the same triggers after traditional treatment. Studies show that being in the outdoors lowers depression and anxiety. Being active in the outdoors provides a sense of purpose shifting the addict’s behavior to a healthy lifestyle.
“When people have a planned purpose their focus changes. They learn to accept things and choose to move on. A new story is written and social bonds are formed allowing for individuals to live life to the fullest.” – Planned Purpose Co-Founders, Tom & Christine
Taking people to experience adventure cultivates a sense of belonging while finding purpose. Recovery is a lifelong process and takes constant work. The building blocks to a recovery program are not the same for every individual. It is an finding the right fit that we create behavior change and social change in turn teaching leadership development and fostering the conquering of goals and quests while overcoming fear. For it is in keeping the body and mind active and engaged that we find purpose & reason.

Who We Are
Addiction and mental health challenges can affect anyone. Approximately 1,100 college freshmen will complete suicide this year; the majority as the result of untreated depression.
- Approximately 1 in 4 high school and college students report binge drinking at least once a month.
- Heroin has become an epidemic in Northeast Ohio- in 2014, 2,347 people in Ohio died from heroin overdose, making it the second in drug overdose in the U.S.
- Mental illness strikes 1 in 4 Americans, and young adults are the most vulnerable to its onset.
- We predict that 2-5% of people who engage in online gaming and other gambling activity will develop problem gambling behavior.
At Recovery Resources, providing comprehensive behavioral health care is our passion and we work tirelessly with those we serve and our community partners to make this goal a reality, but we can’t do it without your help.
Our experience made us who we are
In 2000, two Cleveland agencies merged to become Recovery Resources, where mental illness and addictions of all types could be treated under one roof in an integrated way– a critical need for those who were dually diagnosed. This family soon grew with the addition of Community Challenge in 2008, which increased our footprint with young people in the suburban West Shore. Our continuum of care grew once again in 2011 with the addition of Spectrum of Supportive Services, which broadened our housing services and added services focused on helping people re-enter the workforce.
Today we honor our founders every day by helping others
- See the immense possibilities that recovery offers
- Begin their individual journeys to health and hope

An effort is underway across Ohio to prevent drug use among Ohio’s most vulnerable citizens – our children. Governor John R. Kasich and First Lady Karen W. Kasich have launched Start Talking! to give parents, guardians, educators and community leaders the tools to start the conversation with Ohio’s youth about the importance of living healthy, drug-free lives.
A majority of substance-free adolescents credit their parents for the decision not to use illegal substances. Likewise, teachers and other authority figures can have a similar influence on youth and their decision-making.
Parents, mentors and peers can make a difference just by talking to the young people in their lives about drug use. Please Start Talking!
