Matt Talbot for Men (Residential):

The Matt Talbot programs consist of residential treatment for alcohol and or/or drug addiction, and mental health issues. Men must be 18 years of age or older and have a diagnosis of chemical dependency or addiction.

Our comprehensive treatment program focuses on recovery from addiction and rehabilitation leading to an alcohol and drug-free lifestyle.

  •  Education about addiction and recovery, including information on relapse prevention and opiate addiction
  • Group Counseling
  • Individual Counseling
  • Case Management
  • Medical/psychiatric evaluation
  • Culturally and gender specific life skills training
  • Housing, meals, and personal care items
  • Access to daytime medical clinic

When a man is deemed ready to resume an alcohol and drug-free life, Matt Talbot staff prepare him for that challenge providing comprehensive discharge planning and services including:

  • Employment or job readiness training and referral
  • Sober housing information and guidance
  • Continuing care plan and sober recreation

Matt Talbot for Men (Intensive Outpatient):

Matt Talbot Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program provides co-educational help and support to adults experiencing life problems due to chemical dependency, alcohol or other drug use, and mental health issues.

We offer a full spectrum of intensive outpatient services including:

  •  Chemical dependency treatment (group and individual counseling)
  • Case Management including assistance with medical, legal, mental health and Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) needs/requirements
  • Employment or job readiness training by connecting with Catholic Charities’ program
  • Long term recovery plan with links to the next level of care
  • A cognitive behavioral change model

Matt Talbot for Women (Residential & Intensive Outpatient):

Matt Talbot for Women is a comprehensive primary residential treatment facility providing alcohol and other drug addiction treatment services to women, who are 18 years of age or older.

Residential Services include:

  • Education about addiction and recovery
  • Group Counseling
  • Individual Counseling
  • Case Management
  • Specific Therapeutic Services for women with mental health diagnosis
  • Medical/Psychiatric Evaluation
  • Medication Management
  • Nutrition Counseling

Intensive Outpatient Services:

When a woman in treatment is determined to be ready to resume an alcohol and drug-free life, our staff will help prepare her for that challenge with a comprehensive discharge plan for intensive outpatient and/or outpatient treatment, including:

  • Employment or job readiness training referral
  • Sober housing or transitional housing information, guidelines and referral
  • Development of continuing care plan and sober recreation
  • Participation in outpatient treatment services

  • In existence for over 65 years, the Harbor Light Complex has been a beacon of hope and help, providing services to the most disenfranchised members of society including homeless men, women and children, the alcoholic, the drug addict, and the felon. Founded in 1949 as a 10-bed program for homeless, alcoholic men, Harbor Light had an annual budget of $11,000. In 1970, the facility moved from its original location on Eagle Avenue to the current site at 1710 Prospect Avenue.
